What is pledged
Two separate programs. Dell Technologies (employer): a match of the U.S. Treasury's $1,000 seed deposit. Source: Dell Technologies newsroom: Invest America Business Pledge (verified Oct 16, 2026). Michael & Susan Dell (philanthropy): $6.25 billion to put $250 into the Trump Accounts of 25 million children; the Dells say the commitment "is now a reality." Who qualifies
Employer match: children born to U.S.-based team members 2025-2028. $250: children born 2016-2024 in qualifying ZIP codes. Dell Technologies match: every child born to U.S.-based team members between Jan. 1, 2025 and Dec. 31, 2028. Source: Dell Technologies newsroom: Invest America Business Pledge (verified Oct 16, 2026).
Dell $250: eligible children born between 2016 and 2024 who live in ZIP codes with a median family income of approximately $117,300 or less (threshold as of Oct. 9, 2026), plus all eligible children living on military bases. Some children in higher-income ZIP codes also received it because their families signed up before auto-enrollment began. Funds are reserved for children in foster care, with details still being determined and contributions expected next year. How to get it
The $250 is automatic. The employer match runs through Dell's benefits. Parents do not need to apply for the $250; eligible children receive it automatically. To see it, access your child's account at TrumpAccounts.gov or in the official Trump Accounts app. Source: Michael & Susan Dell: 25 million children to receive $250 (verified Oct 16, 2026). Dell's newsroom post does not describe the employee enrollment steps for the $1,000 match. Source: Dell Technologies newsroom: Invest America Business Pledge (verified Oct 16, 2026).
How the federal rules apply
Employer money goes into the child's Trump Account, so the account has to exist and be claimed. Treasury says every eligible child under 18 with a valid SSN now has an automatically enrolled account, and a parent or guardian must claim it in the official Trump Accounts app to manage it and let employers contribute. Source: U.S. Treasury, Oct 1, 2026 (automatic enrollment) (verified Oct 16, 2026).
Employer (section 128) contributions are limited to $2,500 a year (per employee, not per child), and they count toward the $5,000 annual limit. The $1,000 Treasury seed does not. Source: IRS Instructions for Form 4547 (verified Oct 16, 2026).
